- 1/2 tsp Red chilli powder

- 2 tbsp Desi ghee
- 1 bay leaf
- 1/2 cinnamon stick
Steps to make to make Langar wali dal
- Wash and soak the two dals for a few hrs. Pressure cook them while adding a cinnamon stick,haldi powder, little amount of salt, bay leaf. Pressure cook till 4-5 whistles or till fully cooked.
- Now with the help of a madhani or hand masher just mash the dal roughly and slightly such that both daals merge together. Remove the bay leaf and cinnamon stick. Keep aside. Now prepare the simple tarka..Heat ghee adds in onions fry till light brown adds in ginger garlic, green chilies, some salt, all the rest of masalas and tomatoes. Cook on low flame, add little water so that all the masalas are incorporated in it.
- Now add the dal and mix nicely. This dal is not very watery, so add little water to make it of thick and not to a watery consistency. Lower the flame and boil the dal for ten more minutes. This will make it more creamer by itself. Switch off the gas. if you want, you can add a little more hot ghee on top. Serve hot with piping hot fulkas/ chapattis.
